1pm—3pm Historic Downtown Fort Smith
A Fort Smith Trolley will pick up participants at the Marriot (The hosting lodge) at 1:00. The driver will serve as the guide as we visit: The National Historic Site which includes the remains of the 1817 fort, also restored courtroom of the famed "Hangin' Judge" Parker, and frontier jail aptly named "Hell on the Border," with the reconstructed gallows; The Bass Reeves Monument; Belle Grove Historic District including Darby, Clayton, and Booneville Houses ; Zachery Taylor’s Chimney; National Cemetery; Trolley Museum; Fort Smith Museum of History, containing numerous exhibits: from the first fort in 1817, the Civil War, Fort Chaffee. One of the highlights is an old-fashioned drug store and a working soda fountain. The tour will stop and visit Miss Laura’s Social Club former Bordello and current Visitor Center with guided tour. The tour will then return to The National Historic Site (Site is free the museum is $4) and adjacent Fort Smith Museum of History (The soda fountain is open the museum is $5), if you choose, or the trolley will return you to the Marriott (6 blocks from museums).
